Working together for the third time, ASICS and famed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma continue to push the boundaries of what differentiates art and design with the Archisite ORU sneaker.
Inspired by a desire for footwear which could be adaptable enough to wear between worksites and formal occasions, the Archisite ORU combines novel ideas with established innovation to create something wholly new.
The uppers are double-layered, with an internal structure made of overlapping straps which draw from the Japanese craft of bamboo weaving. Specifically the irregular pattern is reference to Yatara Ami (やたら編み). This open-weave is complimented by an outer shell of DYNEEMA® fabric which is paper-like in structure whilst being extremely durable. The uppers are kept tight thanks to a unique stretch toggle system which wraps across the foot.
Underneath, tooling from the FUJI LITE 2 provides lightweight cushioning from the FLYTEFOAM midsole and grip via the ASICSGRIP lugged trail outsole.
